Remembrance Day 2025…

What an honour to attend this memorable and unique event.
All the feelings I felt in 2024 at my first live attendance at the National War Memorial returned and a few more were added… like the elderly vets seated in the front rows with their Legion blankets over them in the bitter cold… They have not forgotten their friends and comrades.
The flinching of the 21-gun salute when you don’t know when they will fire the canon… The appearance of the helicopter instead of the jets at such a low altitude and its sharp turn over the crowd… All the new dignitaries arriving for this remarkable occasion.
The coldness of the day, yet so many attended despite the weather and the laying of your Poppy on the tomb of the unknown soldier.
Yes, this is Canada! We will never forget the soldiers/ military that fought and those that gave their
lives for our freedom and safety. Let us NEVER FORGET

The Ottawa Women’s Canadian Club is honoured to lay a wreath at the National War Memorial on Remembrance Day.
This year is especially meaningful, as it marks President Carol MacKay’s final wreath-laying ceremony before her term ends in June.
Thank you, Carol, for representing us with dignity and grace. We hope this important tradition continues for years to come.
Lest We Forget.
